Stillness

The day began dry but with a cold dampness which chilled to the bone. Walking to Gortenfern took about an hour and the light and colours were muted by a low hanging mist. But, by the time the I reached the deserted beach, the cloud had lifted and the most curative sight awaited.

The tide turning and rushing against itself, pulling the few shells back into the gentle foaming waves were the only sounds to be heard in the stillness. A quick coffee before choosing my spot to work, enabled me to begin absorbing the intense and rich colours which thanks to the weather lifting were more vibrant than I had expected.

After a number of hours the cold became too much and I began to pack away my gear, not without disappointment. It is the kind of cold that reaches right into your bones and cannot be avoided or ignored so the march back to the car began. There was a mist rolling in from the south giving a great depth to the colours on the land, and the sea & sky were becoming one again. A small sense of satisfaction with a number of pieces made today, fired my enthusiasm for a return trip in the near future.

As well as some of today's work there are a few pieces from the past month posted here.
