Outlandia - Day 2. Snow on the hills

This morning after a great sleep, the walk to Outlandia seemed less arduous. By the halfway point on the peat track snow was falling steadily in this quiet woodland. Every day I step on to the wooden walkway, it is like walking out of the back of the wardrobe, especially today with the snow falling fast in the silence.

It was good to be back in the space and I set to work straight away. The light, due to the early hour & the weather was poor, but the atmosphere was intense. As the day passed the light improved, being off grid means no power at Outlandia and with the skylight covered with snow it felt as if I was cocooned in the space. Working faster today to keep warm, finding it better to work standing at the makeshift table at the open window.

The trees are mesmerising and the intense colours in the Glen, beyond the snowfall which has slowed are vibrant. I can't imagine a better time of year to work here apart from the cold which is bearable if you keep moving. As morning turned to afternoon it bought blue skies, sun and more snow & light which set the glen alight.

Plenty of hot coffee and moving around kept me warm. By 2pm I decided to venture down to the floor of the glen and work on a larger piece which had its own challenges. It is now drying this will take some time due to the temperature which isn't getting much above 2 degrees. Back to the Ben Nevis Inn for a hot drink and a chance to warm up & dry out.
