Outlandia - Day 4. The wind and the rain.

Today is cold and damp. I sit here in low clouds watching them slide to the valley floor exposing Ben Nevis for moments before the next mist descends.
I have spent some time today writing a monologue of thoughts, which has been an important part of this creative process. The daily isolation allows my thoughts to process in an entirely different way. A process of consolidation and deconstruction in the same breath. Which can been seen in todays work, some of which I have recorded.

As the rain poured onto the glass roof above, the noise and images it created were spellbinding, I had taken quite a lot of video but none of it is uploadable ( sorry). The wind was picking up and the trees were swaying becoming a moving mass as one.

I worked quickly and with deliberate strong mark- making to create immediate responses to the environment around me today. Using indian ink and chalk I worked on many images of the trees around Outlandia. Leaving the drawings to rest for a short time I then exposed them to the full onslaught of the weather ( again there are videos of this process but sadly not here !) - I will learn how to do that bit soon.
Then when the pieces were soaked I hung them for a period of time before laying them flat to dry. The process can be seen in the following images.

This is not such a great photo - the light was going as I took this. But the effect captured exactly the the key elements I had hoped to record.
