Last day in Outlandia, but I know I'll be back up in Glen Nevis again soon. There's still so much material here and I'm determined to go up the Ben in 2016, with my sketchbook. The process of working from one subject is totally non exhaustive, it builds an ever changing but specific relationship with the subject.

A cold but dry morning, which was good for the walk up. I set to work straight away in the knowledge that it would take some time for any work to dry and I need to take what I do with me today.

I have enjoyed the challenges this week has brought me, the isolation, focus and subject matter. I have missed the sea but feel re- engaged with the landscape and better equipt to take my work forward and develop new ideas. I am looking forward to re- examining the work of Peter Lanyon and Richard Diebenkorn, though not specifically influenced by their work, I know they are crucial in the development of landscape painting.

It was such a cold day and with the windows open it made it even more so, but essential to work. The cloud base dropped and the rain came down early afternoon and I soon closed them. Aware that this was my last day in the space only added to the pressure to create more & more work but in the knowledge that I would have to be ready to leave before the light went.

I thankfully came off the hill before the weather deteriorated into a gale blowing all the rain it could find, down Glen Nevis.

I am now finishing my time at Outlandia. But it feels like the beginning of a process for me, which has challenged me in many ways and I am looking forward to building on this experience within my work. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to complete this week as artist in residence and greatly appreciate this opportunity.
